Thin film strain gauges are directly deposited onto sensing elements in a vacuum deposition chamber by a sputtering process. Metal thin-film strain gauges of the pressure or the load measurement are different from conventional foil gauges.
The metal thin-film strain gauges have no creep and have high stability because they do not need adhesives. Also, high production and low cost are available by the thin-film technology. The sputtered metal strain gauge circuit offers superior long term stability and higher temperature capability than other pressure sensors. A unique lead out pad design provides ease of soldering and rugged construction.
