I have been conducting fundamental research in the field of optics at a government-funded research institute for over a decade. Among the various research projects I've been involved in, the development of optical communication components and the production of TW-class lasers stand out in my memory.   While each researcher may have different goals, I have been saddened by the lack of a cohesive cycle where research conducted at universities or research institutes in our country contributes to our national competitiveness by being transferred to various industries and then fed back into further technological advancements. Of course, basic research may sometimes be an exception to this cycle.   Now, I believe that our country has grown enough to invest in satisfying the intellectual curiosity of humanity, and it would be embarrassing to rely solely on advanced countries for such research. However, there has been an issue where too many researchers have sought exceptions in this cycle.   Businesses require advanced research for their development, but universities and research institutes have not been able to provide the necessary support. There has even been disappointment that research conducted at universities or government-funded research institutes is lagging behind industry research facilities both in terms of timing and technology.   Researchers have been satisfying their personal intellectual curiosity without directly contributing to the advancement of technology, and as a result, the cycle of technological development has turned into a vicious cycle, causing domestic technology to gradually fall behind. Now, I believe it's up to researchers to step in and fill the gap left by superficial domestic products. We cannot ignore or dismiss domestically produced technology. That way, we will stay ahead in the global market.   We will strive to earn recognition for the notable technological achievements within our country's companies.
