This tester is used to measure the amount of halogen gas and the density/conductivity of hydrogen ions generated in the cable by the radiated heat. 
During an IEC 60754-1 test, while halogen-turned composites and halogen-turned additives coming from the cable are burning, this method is used to measure the amount of halogen gas excluding fluoride hydrogen acids. 
IEC60754-2 is designed to measure the degree of oxidation of gas discharged while composite from the electrical or optical cable is burning.
